Just Our Soldiers’ Helpers

Since 2018, the DiSTI Duffer has been supporting Just Our Soldiers’ Helpers (J.O.S.H.), a local non-profit based in Lake Mary, FL that sends high-quality care packages to forward-deployed troops who do not have access to a post or base exchange. The money raised through the DiSTi Duffer helps fund purchasing care package items and their shipment.

The organization likes to ship to those who do not have access to exchanges (PX/BX) to purchase hygiene/food products and to those who do not receive mail or moral support from home.

U.S. Army PEO STRI High School Engineering Internship

The U.S. Army PEO STRI High School Engineering Internship introduces students to the concepts of technical evaluations and program management through the building of the SeaPerch underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Duffer funds helped the camp buy the kits (a typical cost of $143 per kit).

Teachers at I/ITSEC

The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is the world’s largest modeling, simulation, and training conference. Since 2014, the Duffer has helped fund 183 teachers from five Central Florida Counties to attend the STEM Teacher Workshop where they worked on projects and attend talks by NASA engineers.

Crooms Academy of Information Technology Scholarship

Crooms Academy of Information Technology is Seminole County Public School’s only dedicated magnet high school. The DiSTI Duffer funded a $500 STEM Education Scholarship awarded to an exemplary senior seeking a degree in a STEM-related field at an accredited college or university in the United States.

Just Our Soldiers’ Helpers

We are proud to continue our support of Just Our Soldiers’ Helpers again this year with the DiSTI Duffer.

Everyone associated with J.O.S.H. volunteers their time and resources to accomplish their mission of “Bringing Smiles to Our Deployed Heroes One Care Package at a Time.”
